Just released · April 15, 2026

ISO 14001:2026 is here. The 3-year transition clock has started.

The International Organization for Standardization published ISO 14001:2026 on April 15, 2026 — the first major revision in eleven years. Every certificate issued to the 2015 edition must be transitioned by May 2029 to remain valid.

The revision isn’t cosmetic. Expanded context analysis covering biodiversity, pollution, and natural resources. Strengthened lifecycle perspective in aspects and impacts. A new Clause 6.3 requiring formal planning of changes to the EMS. Extended operational control over externally provided processes, products, and services. Most organizations will need to revisit their EMS architecture, not just relabel their documentation

MSI Transition ISO 14001:2026 Procedure Templates and Guides Package — editable EMS procedures with worked examples, records, and the new Clause 6.3 change process

The ISO 14001:2026 Transition Package

Transition. Document. Demonstrate.

An experienced EHS lead who knows their operation can work through the whole transition in about a week — because the hard decisions are already made and explained, not left as blanks to puzzle out one at a time. A briefing tells you Clause 6.3 is new and then ends. A generic template restates the clause and helps nobody. This package puts both halves in the same box: the procedures and the course that explains them, written by the same author from the same 200+ audits, so nothing has to be translated from one to the other.

  • Complete, editable ISO 14001:2026 procedures — written to the April 2026 edition, not adapted from 2015 documents. Leadership, Aspect Identification, Monitoring & Measuring, Document & Records, and Purchasing available now; the rest publishing over the coming weeks and delivered free as each releases.
  • The ISO 14001:2026 Transition course included — clause by clause, what changed and what it means for documents you already hold. A $497 value on its own.
  • The new Clause 6.3 change process — the one requirement with no 2015 predecessor, which mapping-table transitions quietly delete because there is nothing in the left column to map from.
  • Bidirectional context and life-cycle aspects — the register that runs both directions, and the aspects you influence rather than only the ones you control.
  • A full 2015-to-2026 cross-reference in every procedure, so an existing document control system carries forward without unpicking.

Days, not months. The reason it moves fast is not that the work is small — it is that the thinking is already done. An experienced environmental manager is reviewing decisions and setting their own values into marked placeholders, not inventing a change-management process from a blank page. The pace comes from the judgment already being in the document; how quickly you finish still depends on your operation and how much of it is yours to decide.

$897 founding price · $1,540 if bought separately

The founding price ends the day the final procedure publishes, then rises to $1,097. Buying now costs less and delivers the available procedures today.

Environmental Management Systems

ISO 14001 — for companies whose environmental performance is already being watched.

Measure. Reduce. Demonstrate.

ISO 14001:2015 is the international standard for environmental management systems. Done well, it gives regulators, customers, and ESG-focused investors documented proof of how your organization identifies environmental risks, reduces its footprint, and improves year over year. Done poorly, it becomes a greenwashing exercise that collapses the first time it’s audited.

MSI has spent nearly three decades building EMS programs that stand up to serious scrutiny — for aerospace suppliers, industrial manufacturers, federal contractors, and the kind of global operators whose sustainability disclosures end up in annual reports. We adapt the standard to how your business actually impacts the environment, not the other way around.

Our Approach

Skip the gap analysis. Start building the EMS that gets you certified.

Most environmental consultants open with a months-long gap analysis. We don’t. If you’re not certified today, you’re already roughly 90% non-compliant — paying to document that in detail is budget that should be going toward the actual EMS. We’d rather spend it getting you certified.

SurePath is a holistic engagement, not a task list. We embed with your operations team, identify your real environmental aspects and impacts, and build the EMS around how your business actually runs.

01

Holistic Onboarding

We start with your operations, not a clause checklist. In the first weeks we walk your facilities, map your material and energy flows, and understand the environmental footprint leadership needs to defend to regulators, customers, and investors.

02

Aspects, Impacts & EMS Design

We identify your significant environmental aspects, prioritize the ones that matter, and build documentation — policy, objectives, operational controls — that reflects how your team actually manages the environment on the ground.

03

Internal Audit & Training

We train your internal auditors, run a full EMS internal audit against the standard, and close findings before the registrar walks in. Your team owns the system — and can defend it — by the time we’re done.

04

Certification Audit Support

We sit with you through stage 1 and stage 2 registrar audits, respond to findings in real time, and stay engaged through surveillance audits year-over-year. 100% first-attempt success rate across 80+ SurePath engagements.

Business Outcomes

What ISO 14001 actually delivers when it's implemented well.

Beyond the certificate on the wall, companies with mature quality management systems measurably outperform their peers.

ESG & Reporting

Credible Sustainability Disclosures

Measure. Report. Prove.

Give ESG analysts, institutional investors, and supply-chain auditors documented evidence of environmental governance. ISO 14001 is the baseline credibility layer beneath most modern sustainability reporting frameworks.

Operations

Resource & Cost Efficiency

Energy. Waste. Water.

Identify where energy, materials, and water are actually being lost. Clients typically see measurable reductions in utility spend and waste disposal costs within the first year of operating the system.

Risk

Regulatory & Reputational Defense

Anticipate. Document. Withstand.

Surface environmental risk before it surfaces you. A certified EMS gives you a documented compliance posture for regulators, a defensible record in litigation, and a clean narrative for customers and the press.

In Their Words

Built around the operation, not bolted on to it.

MSI didn't walk in with a template. They spent time in our plants, understood where our real environmental aspects lived, and built an EMS our operations team could actually run. We passed certification on the first attempt and have defended it through every surveillance audit since.

Pair It With

ISO 14001 + ISO 9001: Environmental and quality, integrated.

Many of our clients implement ISO 14001 alongside ISO 9001 to show customers and investors a unified management system — one set of leadership rituals, one document architecture, one internal audit program covering both quality and environment. Running them in parallel is typically faster and more cost-effective than sequentially.

Before You Commit

16 minutes. The ISO 14001 decision, made clearly.

Our ISO 14001 Executive Brief is a short recorded course built for leaders evaluating environmental certification. In roughly 16 minutes, you’ll understand the real cost, timeline, and business case — enough to decide whether, when, and how to move forward. No sales pitch. Watch at your desk.

Find Your Fit

Not sure ISO 14001 is where you should start?

ISO 14001 is the answer to environmental and ESG pressure — but most companies begin with ISO 9001, the foundation the others build on. The right standard comes down to one question: who are your customers, and what are they asking you to prove?

Whichever you start with, the goal is the same: a management system that helps you win better customers, enter new markets, and scale without the wheels coming off. Certification gets you in the door — and ongoing ISO maintenance keeps you there, audit after audit. Not sure which fits? Let's talk it through.

After Certification

Getting certified is the start. Staying certified is the work.

Certification isn't a finish line — it's annual surveillance audits, management reviews, internal audits, and documentation that drifts the moment the registrar leaves. SureResults™ is MSI's maintenance program: a dedicated consultant who already knows your system and handles the internal audits, registrar coordination, and ongoing improvements year-round, so nothing slips between audit cycles.

MSI clients average 0–1 findings at surveillance audits — and 85% of the systems we implement stay with SureResults.
